Reaching the Airports

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and its second terminal KLIA2 are Malaysia’s main international airports. They are located approximately 55 kilometres or about an hour’s drive south of Kuala Lumpur.

Reaching the City

There are several convenient ways to get to Kuala Lumpur from both airports.

Airport Taxi (from KLIA)

Airport taxi operates on a coupon system which can be purchased at the respective counters near the airport exits. The airport taxi service provider has a variety of vehicle types in their fleet – ranging from family sedans to luxury vehicles. The charges start from a minimum of RM37 and will vary according to the chosen destinations.

Coupons can be purchased from counters at:

  • Domestic Arrival, Level 3, Main Terminal Building
  • International Baggage Reclaim, Level 3, Main Terminal Building

Couponed Taxi (from KLIA2)

There are city taxis at KLIA2 which operate on a coupon system as well and the coupons can be purchased at the respective counters. There are three types of taxi service available – budget, premiere, and family. The charges start from a minimum of RM32 and will vary according to the chosen destinations.

Train (from KLIA and KLIA2)

The quickest way to get from KLIA to the city centre is by taking the KLIA Ekspres. This is a non-stop train service to the Kuala Lumpur City Air Terminal located in KL Sentral, the city’s major transportation hub. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. The KLIA Ekspres trains are equipped with comfortable seats, digital entertainment, wheelchair seat restraint, wheelchair-friendly washrooms and luggage racks.

You may also consider using the Grab mobile phone application to book rides. 

Similar to the taxi, the Grab ride will take you directly to your destination. You can even print out the ride invoices from hub.grab.my for claims.
